Why Superman Might Not Like Your College Dorm Mattress

That campus mattress is old.  You sort of know where it's been.  Here in this room.  You have no idea who has been on that bed.  Your old superman sheets do not know how to protect you from campus bed bugs, rodents, cock roaches, crazy ex's…

That bed sheet Superman is old.  He's tired. He's been protecting you from the monster in your closet and keeping you company with the monster in your head for a whole childhood. Superman remembers more than you do about your 5-10 year old years. He'll keep that secret and trust me, you'd rather those childhood secrets not come with you to your higher-education-hood.

PLUS Superman is too short. Welcome to college, where you relearn all you thought you knew… about superheros. You know what a twin bed is right? No you don't. Now its bigger and better and if you still want to think of your sheets fondly, sentimentally, don't bring them.  Put on two corners…next, POP! New sheets.

Superman is also a terrible wing-man.  You go to the super-tall mattresses at school; meet a real 3D-wing man. Superman can go to that super-tall place at the top of the new house and you can compare notes on Christmas Break.

You can tell Superman before he takes a long 2D nap in the attic or moving box. His turn for dark night days.  He's up there rallying energy for round two with your kiddo…after college…after college….Oh, already have kids? Get those kid sheets on their proper bed already! Superman prefers his back on a mattress cover in that case.

Why Baby Boomers Still Buy Houses Even in Today's #RealEstate Market

One thing's for sure: this generation's not ready for an old folk's home, without a doubt, and here's why — statistics don't lie.

It turns out that even in today's industry of home buying and selling, baby boomers have the highest share of the market for single female buyers: 20%. All other buyers have a much more balanced mix. That could mean a situation involving a transition past a divorce, or perhaps being a widow, but either case — the pursuit of home ownership is still a strong one for baby boomers.

However, the main reason among older baby boomers still stays the same, with the majority of those boomers buying a new home just for retirement sake. That metric also sits at 20%. Yep, it's about that time for those boomers to settle down, right? Nope. Retirement's when the fun begins!

Why the Baby Boomer Generation Is Still Booming in the Real Estate Market

It’s true, believe it or not. We’re guessing the real estate market is still so vibrant as mentioned here that even baby boomers from back in the ’80s and ’90s are still very much active when it comes to home buying. And they…

What Should a #Millennial Look for in a Home Buying Prospect? A BABY BOOMER!

Here's the big reason why, actually: these baby boomers basically need to trade down. The house is too big, the kids have moved out, and they're just not able to keep up with the maintenance. 24% of home sellers are some of the older baby boomers out there, so as a rule, if you're looking to buy a house with a bit more space than normal (as most millennials these days want), chances are a baby boomer's got the goods for you!

And don't take it lightly either. A baby boomer wants to move out of #realestate fast, especially since this is a demographic most likely wanting to move the farthest away at a mark of 75 miles, a much larger distance than the overall median distance of 20. Like baby boomers shooting out of a rocket.

How Does a #Millennial House Hunt?

With a rifle? A dagger? A cannon? All of the above? You'd be surprised to see the trends as far as how millennials shop for #realestate . One would think since millennials are all the rage for home buying, the stats surprisingly show that it's a bit more complex than that.

Only 3% of millennials bought homes in the form of renting an apartment, going for a condo, or even a duplex with two or more units. No single-family homes (not surprised). So even though we may have many millennials actually HUNTING for homes, the type of homes they end up buying are for more of the one-person variety, like bachelor pads or studios.

However, millennials are pretty particular about what they consider to be a good buy as far as a home is concerned — they look for neighborhood quality (63% of millennials cited this) and proximity to jobs, mostly (60% here).

The digital era, of course, is here in full force for millennials, utilizing agents still, but through mobile and tablet applications for convenience. Chances are you won't find millennials seeing a lot of open houses either. They're generally too busy working to make the income.

4 Top Characteristics of Today’s Millennial Home Buyer

You might think you’re a millennial home buyer just by your age, but you’d be sorely mistake. Find out right here what REALLY makes a millennial.
