The Glory of The Spring Real Estate Race
It’s Track Season. 400 Meter Dash – Real Estate Style.
The air is heavily laden with excitement – and pollen. The real estate market is heavier with houses – and competition. Christmas, back to school, spring break aren’t asking for your expendable income and the pockets bulge like seeds underground. The conditions are ripe – for everyone.
The ground moves with dribbling erosion and roots shoot into plants. The earth replenishes the atmosphere with oxygen. Ahh, take that deep breath and stand on the line…ready, set, BANG!
You are off to find a home or sell your house… then find a home. Have to live somewhere; must win. Ground, air, ground, air…feet are pounding, eating space; getting you somewhere else.
Elbowed in the side by another buyer in the market, you lose your first favorite house as your round the turn. Deeper breaths and wrists to hip, wrist to hip…feel that tax return in your pocket…pat that hip…feet will follow.
You show up to the showing and that realtor triple booked–convenience, had to! The other family’s kids screech as they chase each other around the kitchen island. The perfect metaphor for the adults, unimpressed near the corners, everyone staying in their lane, vying for stakes.
Mere illusion! There is no corner, and you aren’t backed in. You didn’t even really like that house anyway. Keep up on your internet search. Scan frequently–scourer. Keep a list; head on straight…Hire a real estate agent to do the scouring for you.
You fell in love. So picturesque…the flowers out front, the light fixtures, that nook for your books…it’s amazing! You poured through the pictures three times last night. First sight was magical. And…you are the backup offer. Outbid again!
Legs are jelly, but keep moving. Mantra to the end, “I will have my dream home…I will have my dream home…”
In the final 100 meter stretch, the lungs tighten and the brain beats like a heart and changes it’s tune, “I will find a place…I will find a place to live.” And, in a flippant show of options after a long day of work, you throw another offer on the table, so sick of the whole process.
You Won! Congratulations, That’s A Nice Chunk Of Real Estate
The rest of you… just haven’t won, YET. There’s always…moving in the…winter.
Being in the race to find a home is especially intense in the spring and summer. General economic conditions in the macro-sphere create more equity in these months, and even the school year coincides in agreement. Everyone itching to shift residences stand ready…
