I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that we’re missing something when it comes to real estate news. We didn’t get the full memo. Mostly we see numbers, figures — which houses sold where, for how much, and what new developments may be coming up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and the surrounding neighborhoods, but what really matters are the stories behind those reports and statistics. The families. The communities.

Grand Rapids Real Estate Is All About Community

I’m aiming to address those stories people never get to read. I’m targeting the happenings no one ever gets to hear or see, except for those precious few that experience the joy of community at its finest. Many of you may be interested in a zero-down home, or renting, and you’re in the market to find the best community or neighborhood for you — perhaps you’re all about what school to enroll your child in, or whether or not you’re right by 28th street for the best shopping days at Woodland Mall or Meijer. Whatever the case is, know this: the best places to be are only as good as the people who live in those places. Your community matters, and you’ll see those golden nuggets of community in real estate in the most unlikeliest of places. Take these stories, for example: these are real events, two in particular I can guarantee you, you would never hear about on the local news. Only right here:

This is only the start of it, people. There’s a wealth of stories out there that go above and beyond comparables, re-developments, and statistics. Aside from the fact that you can seek all kinds of rental assistance, get your credit protection, identity theft control, and other services, you get the real goods when you see just how much character there is in a community.

In That Character, You’ll See….

You’ll see if a particular neighborhood’s right for you. it’s not about whether or not the houses look good, or the streets are maintained. It doesn’t even matter if you live by a park or school. What are your neighbors like? Does the owner of the corner shop have a great temperament? Things like that….

That mailman walking down the ice-covered sidewalk isn’t just the person giving you your bills. All I’m saying is look deeper than what’s on the surface.

  1. Sometimes, the very best posts are not the most used, but this is great in my own book.
